Pop Art



What is pop art?

Pop art is art that is based on what is popular on the media during that time period. Pop art can be used as a critical or ironic comment on traditional fine arts values. The term “pop” in pop art stands for the word popular.

When did it first emerge?

Pop art first emerged in the mid-1950s in Britain.

This pop art was done by Andy Warhol. Andy Warhol was one of the leading artists in this genre and he reveled in creating pop art that included aspects of advertisements, culture related to celebrities and also artistic expression on the whole.

 
Look Mickey

Look Mickey is a 1961 oil painting done by Roy Lichtenstein. Roy Lichtenstein was also one of the famous pop art artists that existed.
